Cookie Policy
What cookies we use on sdtechnologist.co.uk, why we use them, and how to control your preferences.

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as browser local storage, work in the same way. Together they help a site function properly, remember your choices, and — where you have given consent — measure how the site is used or deliver relevant advertising.
This Cookie Policy explains exactly what sdtechnologist.co.uk stores on your device, why, and how you can control it. We have written it to describe what the site actually does today, not what it might do in future.
2. What We Currently Use
At present, this website sets one first-party cookie and uses one local storage entry. Both exist solely to remember your cookie preferences so we do not ask you again on every page.
We do not currently run any analytics, advertising or third-party tracking on this website.
2.1 Strictly Necessary
These are essential for the website to function and to honour your privacy choices. Under UK PECR they do not require consent, but we disclose them for transparency.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
sdt_consent |
SDTechnologist | Stores your cookie consent choices (analytics on/off, marketing on/off) and the date they were given | Strictly necessary | 12 months | First-party cookie |
sdt_consent |
SDTechnologist | The same consent record held in your browser’s local storage, so your choice persists reliably | Strictly necessary | Until you clear your browser data | First-party local storage |
2.2 Logged-in Administrators
If you log in to the WordPress administration area, WordPress sets additional session and authentication cookies. These apply only to site administrators, never to ordinary visitors.
3. What We Do Not Currently Use
For clarity, this website does not currently load any of the following:
- Analytics tools such as Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity
- Advertising or retargeting pixels such as Meta Pixel, Google Ads or the LinkedIn Insight Tag
- Third-party embeds that set cookies
Our consent banner already supports Analytics and Marketing categories. Both are switched off by default and no such scripts are installed. If we introduce any in future, they will load only after you consent, and this page and the table above will be updated before they go live.
4. How to Manage or Withdraw Your Consent
You can change your cookie preferences at any time:
- Click “Cookie Settings” in the website footer to reopen the preference panel
- Adjust the Analytics and Marketing toggles individually
- Withdraw consent entirely by selecting “Reject All”
You can also manage or block cookies through your browser settings, and clear local storage by clearing your browsing data. Blocking strictly necessary storage may mean we cannot remember your preferences, so the banner will reappear.
5. Your Rights
Cookies and similar technologies are regulated in the UK by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), alongside the UK GDPR. Where cookie data constitutes personal data, the rights set out in our Privacy Policy apply.
SDTechnologist Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under reference ZC021875. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
